‘Good Day LA’ is under major changes.
Longtime co-anchor Dorothy Lucey is leaving the show. According to Deadline.com, her contract was not renewed. The station confirms her last day is Friday.
And that’s not all.
Fan favorite Jillian Reynolds status will change from a full time KTTV employee to freelance and will NOT be featured on the morning show five days a week.
As for award winning co-anchor Steve Edwards, he is locked into a long term contract and will be continuing his status as full time. Getitwhit hears the station will be holding tryouts for Dorothy Lucey’s position in hopes to create a mold of ‘Live With Kelly.’
Why the change? ‘Good Day LA’ has dramatically lost ratings over the years. Dorothy Lucey was being paid a ridiculous amount and Jillian Reynolds is busy focusing on charities and sponsorship deals.
This is sad to the LA community, who has been watching the trio since 1995. ‘Good Day LA’ is notorious for their celebrity guests and interest in pop culture.

That show needed changes, so sick of Jillian, she was rude, texting while working, and just obnoxious. I know Dorothy seemed in it only for the money, but the way they treated her was shabby. So over Jillian they should fire her too, she is and older woman trying to act younger, just take care of that cute hubby of yours. I prefer KTLA morning show for the past 4 years now they seem more genuine and not full of themselves. Good luck to Steve, hope you get better co-hosts.
I agree. Jillian is obnoxiously way over the top and Dorothy is just plain boring! She may have wanted to get fired, because she always seemed out of place. Jillian was overly rude toward a rather polarizing Dorothy.
Wow! while I don’t wish losing a job on anyone, I’m glad to see the change on Good Day LA, Jillian and Dorthy were reall silly, and its not that they were not liked as people, but they did’nt demonstrate any intellegence in their reporting or comments. They were rude and always interrupting, and competing for attention when guest were on, that I just turned the channel; never knew who are what the guest was talking about because these two were not allowing the guest simple courtesy of an interview. Steve always tried to ring them in but they always contend with him to conform to theri humor and he didn’t care for it you could always tell from the look on his face and comments… I’m watching again, I like Steve and the fill ins are just fine at least they make sense.

I switched to KTLA a long time ago. Jillian was such a name-dropper and rude. They need to FIRE her. The show has more dignity now and I can watch it without getting frustrated with the lack of information and weather updates from Jillian and Dorothy. Good Riddance to both of them!
I for the longest time preferred “KTLA morning show”over “Good Day LA” but then Barbra Beck left KTLA morning show and a long list of format changes basically changed the once beloved show. I switched to “Good Day LA” . I thought it was beyond tacky that these two women wore low cut evening dresses. I eventually began to like Good Day LA MORE SO. k
I agree with oprafan2, that jillian needed a name dropper counter on the bottom of the screen… But even more annoying was hearing her brag about her marine sniper husband all the time… Then I saw that guy
On a show called house husbands I think it was called and some goofy guy that has never shot a gun before shot circles around her self proclaimed sniper husband! Talk about embarrassing…
I think Jillian said the phrase “Marine sniper” about 3 times just during her appearance on Howard Stern one morning.
Dorothy stunk up the stage for way, way, way too long. My prayers have been answered. Steve is still great.

I think all three should go. Steve interruts the guest also and I’m not thrilled with him either.
Also hate Larry Elder!
Good to hear from other’s who dislike Larry Elder I have watched ch. 11 for several years because of local news coverage, but switch to ch. 5 whenever Larry Elder is on board…get rid of Larry Elder!
ch. 11 is cleaning house getting rid of Larry Elder might help ratings.
