‘The Marriage Bargain’ — The New ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey?’

It’s no secret people like sex.

We like to do it and hear about it… so why not read about it? That seems to be the thought process of today’s book readers. For example, the huge phenomenon  ‘Fifty Shades of Grey.’ But the novel, which has been coined “kiddy porn,” isn’t the only book that teeters on mature sexual tolerance and contemporary ideas on relationships.

‘The Marriage Bargain’ is getting a ton of attention from Hollywood producers who missed the opportunity to turn ‘Fifty Shades of Grey‘ into a feature film. ‘The Marriage Bargain’ follows a bookstore owner who begins dating a billionaire. He doesn’t believe in marriage but is forced to take the plunge in order to gain his father’s corporation. Their business-only relationship gets tested as boundaries get pushed and their romance grows.

This steamy novel is currently number 9 on the Times Best Seller list — and a hot ticket for Hollywood movie companies.

“When I talk to movie producers, half of them have already read it — even before it was known how many copies were selling, it was in their weekend reading,” Liz Pelletier, co-founder of Savvy Media, and partners with the book’s publishing company told the Daily Variety. “Our preference is going with a studio/production company that really gets behind the book and gets it made into a movie.”

And once ‘The Marriage Bargain‘ is snapped up, filmmakers will likely turn their attention to another risque book. ‘Bared to You’ from Penguin Publishing’s Berkley Books imprint is considered racier than ’50 Shades of Grey.’ ‘Bared to You’ focuses on two sexual abuse victims who address their emotional past through an obsessive, overly-sexual charged relationship.
