My story is a sad one but no harm done in the long run! This is a story about my previous boyfriend (though I have since found a much more lovely fellow <3) who I had been dating for seven years.
I tend to make a big deal out of Valentines day. Though I disagree with BUYING things for the occasion, I love making things for my loved ones. I had gone through a lot of trouble by contacting my boyfriend's co-worker so that she could sneak into his office before he got to work and deposit my gifts, which included a hand-made card, a slice of homemade raspberry cheesecake, a single gerber daisy and a DVD… which contained a video of my strumming along clumsily on an acoustic guitar as I sang our song (I Will Follow You Into The Dark by Deathcab for Cutie). This was a big deal for me as I'm EXTREMELY shy about my singing and would usually not do it in front of ANYONE haha. So I gave her all of the presents in plans for that following Monday. On Saturday night he went out to a house party with some friends and didn't come home. It was common for him to go out and not call to say if he was coming home and this bothered me as I would get pretty worried no matter how many times he did it. So I was worried of course! I called him that night and got no answer and a couple times the next day, but nothing. He finally came home on Sunday night around 5:00 only to tell me that the reason he hadn't called me was because he had slept with some random girl at the house party and was too ashamed to face me. So we had a huge fight and I kicked him out and was forced to call his co-worker in tears to try to explain to her why she didn't have to plant my presents anymore. Phew. Looking back the amount of drama in that relationship should have been a glaring sign that we weren't meant to be!
But rest assured I have had a few wonderful Valentin's Day's since then <3
